CASA of Imperial County is proud to announce the launch of the Jamie Sinclair Literacy Program, a new initiative honoring the life and legacy of beloved educator and child advocate Jamie Sinclair. The program aims to foster a lifelong love of reading, creativity, and connection among foster children and underserved youth across Imperial County.
The Jamie Sinclair Literacy Program offers hands-on, volunteer-led, interactive literacy experiences to children ages 3-11 through a combination of reading access, volunteer mentorship, creative expression, and local partnerships.
"Jamie Sinclair dedicated her life to early education, and this program carries forward her passion by placing books-and joy into the hands of children who need it most," said Alex Cardenas, Executive Director of CASA of Imperial County. "It's about more than reading—it's about making sure every child
feels seen, supported, and inspired to learn."
The program includes four core components:
The program was created to honor Jamie Sinclair's passion for education, equity, and community service. Her legacy will now live on through the laughter, learning, and stories shared with the children who need them most.
"Jamie believed deeply in early learning and child development, and I can't think of a more meaningful way to remember her than through a literacy program that supports foster children here in Imperial County," said Richard Sinclair, Jamie's husband.
